Our Vision

A Nairobi where every household can grow, save, and eat with dignity.

We envision Babadogo, Kariobangi North, and the wider Ruaraka Sub-County as a community where no household is cut off from fresh food because of a lack of land, water, or capital — where small urban plots, balconies, and rooftops are treated as real productive space, and where farming knowledge and cooperative savings are passed between neighbors as a matter of course.

Our Mission

What we do, in plain terms

Green Revolution Farmers is a registered Community Based Organization that trains and supports smallholder and urban farmers in Babadogo and Kariobangi North through four core activities:

  • 1
Train. Hands-on workshops in composting, drip irrigation, sack gardening, poultry keeping, and pest management, taught by member-farmers and visiting agricultural extension officers.
  • 2
Organize. Table-banking groups, community seed banks, and bulk-buying of inputs so members save money and share risk together.
  • 3
Connect. Linking farmers to county agricultural extension services, local schools running nutrition gardens, and buyers for surplus produce.
  • 4
Advocate. Representing urban and peri-urban farmers' interests in county forums on land use, water access, and waste management.
Our Values

What guides how we work

🤝

Cooperation over competition

We grow, save, and sell as groups rather than leaving individual farmers to face the same problems alone.

🌱

Sustainability first

Every method we teach is judged by whether a household can keep doing it season after season without depleting soil, water, or savings.

👁

Transparency

Registration status, governance, and finances are documented and available to members, donors, and regulators — see our Transparency page.

🏆

Dignity through self-reliance

Our programs are designed to build lasting household capability, not one-off handouts.

👥

Inclusion

Open to any resident farmer regardless of gender, age, or plot size — from a balcony sack garden to a larger community plot.

📚

Knowledge-sharing

Skills learned by one member are taught forward to the next, keeping training costs low and community ties strong.

Our Status

Officially registered, member-governed

Green Revolution Farmers is registered as a Community Based Organization (CBO) with the Department of Social Development, Ministry of the East Africa Community, Labour and Social Protection — not an informal or unregistered group.
